Busy with Puppy and Embroidery

I didn't remember what it was like to have a puppy. It's been such a long time, and they are truly a handful. He is a bundle of energy, and needless to say my energy does not sometimes match his. He is a real sweetie pie, but he never gets tired, and he is always on the go. Thank God, we took a puppy who was 5 months old, as we don't have too long to go through the puppy and adolescent stages. I will be very happy when he is one year old. His house training is going brilliantly, so he is a good boy and really quite intelligent. We are taking him to obedience classes starting this week.
Dougal loves to join us at the beach, and that is his favorite part of the day for sure. We are
enjoying showing him off, and everyone thinks he is the cutest puppy ever, and he is.
I have found some time to make an embroidered quilt. It has taken me a week to do, but I finally finished it. I have wanted a black quilt for a long time, and it does make our bedroom very dramatic looking.I do love working with my Janome 350E!

For your information, the International Quilt Festival is slowly being organized. I plan on attending the opening ceremony, and also go to three workshops: Ricky Tim's, Sharon Pederson's and Ineke Berlyn's workshops. I am especially thrilled about meeting Ricky Tims and Sharon Pederson, so this will be the only chance I will have to meet them. Here is the info about the festival here. If you decide to come to the festival, tell me,and we can meet there. That would be so much fun!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Dougal is just too adorable! I remember those days of house training my now bear of a Golden Retriever! It's a lot of work, but so worth it! Have a wonderful time at the show, it'll be fun meeting all those celebrities, I'm sure!

What a great quilt, Micki! I love the contrast of pink on black.

I have to tell you this--every time I see Dougal and say his name in my head, I think of Father Ted!

One of my favorite episodes is when Dougal and Father Ted are on holiday in a trailer and Father Ted is explaining to Dougal while holding up a small plastic cow, "This cow is SMALL" then he points out the window and says, "Those cows are FAR AWAY"

That is a beautiful quilt and I can't believe it only took you a week. I would be working on it till next Christmas at least! Yes, puppies are a lot of work, but worth it for sure. Make it a good day, Carline

I don't know how long the puppy stage is? My Trudy is two and still a puppy. Love you quilt.

Yes, Dougal definitely qualifies for the cutest puppy ever! My days of puppy-dom are over after decades and a half-dozen pups raised with our kids. I just don't have the energy to do it again. But I do miss the joys!
I would never have thought to make a black quilt, but yours is absolutely striking!

Dougal is so cute! I'm sure he and Cooper would have a blast playing together. One of my great memories for having the quilt book come out was being on the Quilt show with Ricky Tims and Alex Andersen. They were both lovely people. You are going to love meeting Ricky, I'm sure. Super creative and an incredibly nice guy!

MICKI OH MY GOODNESS....so nice, SO WONDERFUL to have you over and see my little cottage. AND THIS PUPPY...O.K., our neighbors who just recently moved away, had a Cairn terrier...I am assuming that Dougal is a Cairn? Well, CHESTER was a hoot. We loved him so much and he was truly a good boy. He was gentle, but when he saw another dog, wooooo! those little razor sharp teeth flaired like nothing you have ever seen. But then when the dog would pass, you would call him and he would turn to look at you with his ear down, and tail wagging; your heart melted. Well, you DO have your hands full, but I bet you will have hours of laughter, as Ruben and I have had just seeing Chester across the yard.

Enjoy yourself dearest and thank you for coming over, Anita

wow Micki- that is one productive week getting your beautiful embroidered quilt done. It looks wonderful.
Have fun at the festival- I am sure seeing Ricky Tims will be a highlight- I love lots of his designs and have made a few of his patterns.
Dougal is quite the entertaining character I am sure.

Anna

I'm glad to hear you will attend some great workshops at the IQF show. Can't wait to hear your insights from these classes.

Love your new puppy. He'll be a delight to go on those long walks that you and Joe enjoy.

The black quilt is very dramatic! I have a black comforter on my guest bed! I love it...not as beautiful as a quilt though! And your puppy is very sweet! If I got one...I would want one just like him! ♥
