Had to Try a Mug Rug

Everyone's been making a mug rug in blogland, so I decided to make one for Joe today. he is a big coffee drinker, and I knew he really needed one. Being that I love Santa, I cut out a novelty fabric of Santa and machine appliqued it to a block and then used various Christmas fabrics to finish it off. Joe is using it at this very moment, and needless to say loves it.

Gee, have I been bitten by the mug rug bug? Is it like potato chips where you can't just have one of them? I have to admit I had fun making it. I will have to be on the lookout for some neat novelty fabric, but paper piecing would also work for this....really anything would be nice.

Enjoy your Sunday! We still have cold weather here, but the snow is melting. If you are having cold weather, keep cozy and warm! Back to my cup of coffee!

I've been seeing these pop up all over blogland and no one seems to be able to make one! No one in my family really drinks coffee but they're still hard to resist. Yours looks great! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

I have been bitten by the bug, and fortunately no one else knows about them here - so it's unlikely I'll duplicate anyone's gift!! They are so much fun to make.......

What a great idea! You'll have to make a mug rug for yourself too so you're not left out of the fun.
The weather has been pretty nice here lately. I'm glad to hear you're staying warm!

O.k... First I'm going to comment on "Downtown"!! I'm told this was a favorite song of mine when I was little, standing on my makeshift podium of some kind, with my pretend microphone! What language is this being sung in???! (0; As for your mug rug, I have yet to make one.. of fabric anyways, as you can guess mine are usually crochet ones! LOVE how yours came out! I'm a VERY big fan of Santa's, you know!! ~tina

OOO Micki-
That was WAY TOO generous of you to share your snow with me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought of you with every snowflake that fell - which turned out to be about 4 inches.

I TOTALLY adore your "mug-rug" for Joe! Now you can make him a new one for each holiday - or maybe each month - he should get a fresh one!

Lovely Micki. Now you need to make one for yourself as well, and of course, non-seasonal ones.

Hi Micki

You are so right. I am trying to catch up on my blogs and just left Nats and she was making some mug mats and now I see you are too. I love the Santa one. I guess I am going to have to find time to make me one. HA! HA!

A very useful gift too! Very nice one. They're quick to make. I plan to make my sone a couple to go with his new tea cozy for christmas.

A mug rug, said the title...whilst waiting for your blog to load on my state of the Ark computer I had visions of you lining up all your mugs on the floor of the sitting room to walk on, or perhaps in front of the fire so you could sit on them...guess I was wrong!!!!!

Well I must try one, but yours is really festive, you do realise that Joe will be addicted too, he'd probably like a Spring one, then a Valentines, then an Easter one then.....
