Happy Holidays

Joe and I are not very religious at all, but we both respect our cultural backgrounds. This week is Hanukkah, and I wanted to wish all the Jewish bloggers a Happy Hanukkah! I have to admit that Hanukkah was my favorite holiday when I grew up. It was 7 days of gifts and generally at the end, we got a huge gift too. My parents made it very special for us all. There is nothing like the menorah lit up, as you can see from my pic. It brings back many memories.I had wonderful parents, and it is at this time of year that I miss both of them.
Funny enough,my dad also took me to see Santa every year and the Christmas Toyland village in Philly. I have many a pic of me sitting on Santa's lap, and it was a very special time for me and my dad. Of course, he explained to me that Santa was for every child in the world, and as a result of loving Santa all my life, I now collect Santas with much fondness.

I light my menorah, and there is a Christmas tree in our cottage. It is a good representation of both Joe and me. We are proof that people from very different backgrounds can be anam cairde or soulmates.
Anyways, I do hope that the holidays are wonderful for all of you, and they only bring much happiness and health to everyone.

One of the advantages of growing up in the suburbs of Philly . . a little of everything to make you appreciate that everyone is different and that is okay. Not so much diversity in the suburbs in the South. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to you both.

Happy Hanukkah!

LOL! We did the same in our house...I loved Chanuka and the days of presents and we also made a visit to the Department store Santa!

A bit late but good wishes for Hanukkah. My knowledge of this festival is sketchy and I must read a bit more of this. I also hope you are feeling good

I think you are totally wonderful. Whey my DD#1 married "out" she celebrated Christmas big time but now she isn't married to the wonderful Andrew anymore she has gone all religious on me and we have to even keep Kosher!!! I'm not a good Jewess and my Christmas Tree was amazing. The wonderful Andrew now has it. As you can tell I really love my son-in-law (well he isn't ex yet).
Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas.
Lots of Love

You know Micki, where I live there are few Jewish people, and so I was so excited to meet a new friend who I'm becoming close to who is Jewish and celebrating Hannukah right now! I love the richness of the Jewish faith. Your memories of your parents will always be with you -- as will your love for them.

I am not Jewish, but my sister is. So with this I do have a few blue and silver Jewish fabrics to make my sister something for Hanukkah.
Happy Holliday, Micki!
