I am so happy to introduce to you someone who has become a good friend of mine, as we have been chit chatting through emails quite a bit this year. Kelly from I Have a Notion (IHAN) graciously agreed to be my January Star. She has a fabulous blog where she introduces amazing quilters, does product reviews, presents the latest techniques, gadgets, and products, and has a marvelous store online where she has an array of products to buy. I have become a regular customer of hers, and her customer service can't be beat. Since I won the AccuQuilt Go, I have bought all of my dies from her. Needless to say, her prices and service can't be beat. Please do visit her store, as you will most definitely find something that you want to buy, and her blog is such fun and so informative! Kelly is always there to help, and she has a heart of gold, and as you can see by her photo, she has a smile that is as welcoming as she is. I truly hope that I meet her one day...I keep on mentioning a visit to Ireland, so I am hoping she comes one day. Here is her interview, and enjoy it. She is a sweetheart in every sense of the word and quite talented!
A Bit About Me: I live in Ohio and have 5 kids (three grown and two little ones) and I've been married to Mr. McSteamy for almost 11 years.
In a previous life I was a Psychologist and I worked with Developmentally Disabled Adults for 15 years. I "retired" to stay at home with my co-workers.
Currently I'm the owner of I Have A Notion and I love my "work."
What Inspires Me: People, Nature and Color. I admire those who are gifted in the arts and I get excited when I see beautiful work. The time and energy people put into their creations is a gift to the rest of us who get to enjoy seeing it and I feel blessed to know some very talented folks.
What I Love to Do the Most Creatively: Write my blog posts. Most of the time I absolutely love writing about things I have learned about or things I've seen. Sharing with others is a great pleasure for me.
My Favorite Fabric and Designer: Honestly....I don't have just one....or even a few. There are so many folks I admire I could not just pick out one or two. I know that is not an answer....but it is the truth.
UFO I Intend to Finish First: My backpack!!! I started it last Thanksgiving, 2009...can you believe it? I have finished the backpack, but I'm not going to be happy with it until it is properly embellished. The "right' thing has not come along yet.
After that, I want to finish my fish applique wall hanging. I love those fish and I want to get that one the wall.
What is on the Design Wall Now: The table runner I have been working on from a class I took with Linda Poole. I loved her class and I want to finish my tablerunner for spring. I have another 4 or 5 projects lined up....3 of them charity projects so I've got to get busy.
Who Would I Love to Meet? Carol Burnett....hands down. I think the world of her and I think I'd just cry if I got to meet her.
If I Had One Wish:
Personal Wish: I would wish to live long enough to see both of my son's children.
Family Wish: We would all continue to respect one another and encourage each person to live up to their full potential.
Wish for the US: Value what we have.
Global wish: That we respect the privilage of living on this earth and care for it as we would our own treasures.
Greedy wish: I want a wall of thread....spools in every color.....so when I go to sew I'm not frustrated by not having the right color of thread.....and of course have a few extra to share with friends :)
Plans for the Future:
Raise my co-workers. They really are the focus of my life so I don't think much past that right now. I love to travel and I always look forward to trips. My bucket list includes visiting: Africa, Ireland, New Zealand, Italy, Iceland and anywhere else I get invited to...:)
Thanks so much Kelly for your great interview! I had to tell you that I am a big fan of Carol Burnett too and watched the Carol Burnett Show for years. She's a gem!
Be inspired and visit IHAN, as Kelly always gives a wealth of information... You will love her blog and store, but more importantly, you will fall in love with Kelly, as I have.
