New Heart Potholder

I made a really cute Heart Potholder and created the design myself. I started work on it yesterday. I have a shelf with hooks underneath where I hang up my potholders , so now this one is hanging from there. I used the Accuquilt GO to make the hearts...so much quicker and easier. I machine appliqued the hearts to an Asian style background that I created...lots of machine stitching on the background. I guess tht I am in a decorating mood. I recently told someone that I am a collector of bears, pincushions, tea towels and potholders. I just love all of them!

I love hanging my potholders in the kitchen. It just makes it so homey and cute, and gives the kitchen personality. I want to create also a recipe journal of all my favorite vegetarian recipes.I will do that as soon as I finish Joe's journal. I am now vegetarian and suscribe to the magazine Vegetarian Living. I lost two and a half stone since going vegetarian and enjoy all of the recipes.
Gee, another new week....Isn't time just flying by?

The potholder is so nice, but I think that, now, you have to show us the shelf with all the potholders hanging there!!! I'm very curious and .... yes, me too I love to have them hanging in the kitchen. Enjoy your week, Clara.

Hi Micki! LOVE your potholder, and the detailed stitching just makes it all the more beautiful!.. As for potholders in the kitchen? Well, I feel flattered! I guess MY kitchen has TONS of personality, so I LIKE that! ~tina

Lovely potholder and a cute design. Is the design yours?

So the pot holders are part of the kitchen decor and not to be used? That's a great idea. I don't like to make anything that will get dirty. That's why I haven't made any pot holders.

It looks beautiful. I love potholders too and hang them in my kitchen. Also love aprons and hang the one I use on the kitchen wall.

That is a very cute pot holder! I am organizing things and my recipes are getting a folder next. I am stuck on my weight loss but I am going to the next level after losing 50 pounds! You know the next level of exercise, diet etc. Great job on your weight loss! The walking is so inspirational to me.

I just looked at a close up photo of the potholder. Love all the stitching. Do you use double layers of the heatproof fabric in-between? I made some pot holders for gifts at Christmas, but they let the heat through. I only sandwiched one layer of batting between two layers of Insul-Bright. What do you use?

That's a pretty potholder! Now, I forget is a stone 12 pounds or 14 pounds or ...? Maybe thinking of weight loss in stones will make it weigh less on my mind? LOL

Wonderful potholder. I go through a lot of them, so need to start making some practical ones. I do have the insulate stuff to make them with.

Hi Micki! (again!).. I just got a kit in the mail, and I am BEYOND excited!! I will be starting a mini scrapbook album with TWILIGHT as the theme!!!.. Then I got to thinking and wondering, knowing what a fan you are too, if you have already made one? (I have the world's worst memory)... Too busy now to start it at the moment, but VERY SOON! I just KNOW I won't be able to wait too long! ~tina

Your little potholder is so cute, what do you use as the filling? a special heat resistant batt?? I would like to make some myself!

How wonderful that your diet change has been beneficial for you. I was a strict vegetarian most of my adult life, but I now need the iron, so I only have meat medicinally now and ocassionlly!
Vegetarian cooking is very creative, my holy grail (purchased Sept 1978) is a book by Doreen Keighley "Vegetarian Cook Book" published by The Vegetarian Society (UK) Ltd. They actually have some great publications. Doreen's receipes are wonderful and simple, the best!!!

Lovely work Micki and I love the pin cushion. I have ot had much opportunity for sewing while the plumbers, builders, plasterers and electricins are in and out of the house, but I am getting inspired seeing what you make! xx
