There was a small band at the town square, and tons of music sessions scheduled in our local pubs. Joe and I listened to the music a bit, but we then decided to escape the crowds and took a lovely walk on the beach.
As you can see, the golf course was pretty crowded with visitors too. It is located right by the beach, and you have views of the ocean from some points at the golf course. The beach was pretty empty except for a few people and horses. We enjoyed our time there so much more than when we were in our village amidst the crowds and the noise.
Joe also took a pic of the poster of the International Quilt Day that will be held on June 19th in Dunfanaghy. As you can see, there are tons of events planned, and I am really looking forward to it.A blogger friend of mine asked me what events were scheduled, so you all can take a look to see what will be happening. The Quilt Festival is right after my birthday, which is on the 17th, so I guess my birthday celebration will be extended.
I will take tons of pics of the events and the quilts.
Hope you enjoy the pics and that all of you are having a wonderful Saturday.
It is a beautiful, sunny day here in our village of Dunfanaghy....perfect weather for the Seafood Festival.

Your town is just gorgeous. Each time you post pictures we see something different or new. I love the horses on the beach. The only thing I don't like is that I'm not one of the riders!
Love your post today. I feel like I am on a tour and you know how much I love Ireland!! Have a beautiful weekend my friend, both you and Joe. Blessings and hugs, Marie
It sounds like fun, Micki, but imagine the crowds must be horrendous.
I can't wait to read all about the quilt festival.
I did enjoy the pictures....what a lovely place to live...so peaceful...even among crowds...
Love the beach and hate crowds so I would be walking with y'all,LOL!
It sounds like a fun event even though I am right with you there and would love the beach!
The beach looks so inviting! Great pictures, looks like fun! Hugs, Kerrie
What fun Micki- I love seafood but it is pretty expensive in the middle of the prairies of Alberta . Bet it is yummy - fresh from the sea..
Sounds like a wonderful time- We went last weekend to see some local live music in pub like restuarant- It was terrific. This weekend is for the art gallery and report cards...
June is coming..
Regards,
Anna
Looks like things are really rockin'there in town.. Lovely pics and aren't you excited bout the quilt fest.. wow..We want lots of pic of that for sure..Hope you are doing well.
Hugs,
Maggey
I am going to pull out my pictures of the trip I was on in the year 2000 and see exactly where we visited so that I can visualize where you are. As we were a group of 38 and clog danced while in Ireland, I was not able to break away and site see by myself. I wish that I could have know about your quilt show earlier so that I might have made travel arrangements to pay a visit to your show. I definitely will re-visit Ireland before too long. I really enjoy your Blog even though I do not comment every day. I am watching the French Open Tennis today as our day here is miserable and cold for May 29th.
It all looks just lovely! Dear Hubby would just be in heaven to play golf right at the beach!
Micki!!! you said the magic word "Seafood" I love it and am very lucky that my DH catches ours for us......and if we're very lucky he and his son gets a load of crabs....yum....I love your blog even if I don't comment every time I read it
As has already been said, the village is lovely. Someday my dear, I am going to show up on your doorstep!
Wish I could be there for the quilt festival, too.
Hello Micki, very cold here, we lit our fire!
I love sea food, how lovely to have a whole weekend celebrating it.
When we lived at Laytown, I regularly rode on the beach, but not, I hasten to add, in the famous races! :D
Love to you both, Kath
Gosh your pictures bring back fond memories, Micki.
Thanks for another 'sentimental journey'.
This is the third return to your blog in five minutes as I keep going off on links and forgetting to leave a comment- I think I have a serious attention deficit problem...I'm always glad for an influx of visitors to Sligo as it boosts the local economy- I expect you feel the same way about Dunfanaghy, but I'd rather be somewhere else when it happens!!
I'm wondering would you mind if I posted your photo of the Quilt Poster on my blog too? Just in case there are any Irish quilters who haven't seen it on yours? Is that cheeky?
Happy B-day in advance! :))
Have fun at the festival!
So peaceful and lovely! I think the quilt festival is an amazing way to celebrate your birthday!
How fun! Makes me want to revisit!!
Wonderful photos - so wish I was there! Hope you have a great weekend!
Susan
