Joe and I needed a day out, so we got on the bus and headed to Letterkenny. Letterkenny is the largest town in Donegal County, and it is situated on a hillside overlooking the River Swilly. It has a few shopping centres, lots of pubs and restaurants, the An Grianan Theatre, a huge cinema, a leisure complex, and tons more. When we arrived at noon, we went to the Voodoo Bar for a wonderful dinner. It is the best place in town for great food. Then we went to the Treasure Bin, where I got tons of embellishments, and then to Spears Fabric Store, which is a marvelous store that gives you the feel of a store dated back in the early 1900's. It's like walking into a time warp....love it! We then saw the movie The Dark Knight, which is the latest Batman movie, and it is great. Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was incredible, and his performance should give him the Oscar, although unfortunately, he died soon after the production of the movie from a drug overdose. He was fabulous, and his performance reminded me so much of Tom Waits. It was a great day out, and we really enjoyed sitting in the movie theatre in our very comfortable chairs eating delicious candy that we bought. What an enjoyable day! By the way, An Grianan Theatre is marvelous...you can see what it is like at http://www.angrianan.com/. That is where we met Gerry Adams, but all year round, they have wonderful events that include comedic shows, dramas, musical shows, etc.
Anyway, we rode home on the bus, which I forgot to say is only a 45 minute trip, and were glad to see our two boys Rufus and Charlie, who welcomed us with wagging tails.
